OUR HISTORY

THE ORGANIZATION STARTED OUT AS A WRITER'S COMPANY, INSPIRED BY AMERICAN PLAYWRIGHT THORNTON WILDER. THE GOALS THEN WERE TO OPEN THE DOORS FOR THE NEW WAVE OF TALENTED HISPANIC AMERICANS.

The organization was founded with the following individuals:

Carla Pinza, actress, producer writer, journalist;
Raul Julia; actor
Judge Gloria Sosa Litner;
Richard DioGuardi, CPA;
Luis Neco, Lawyer;
Ellyn Long Marshal, producer, casting director;
Angela Cabrera, publicist;
Brian Lea, realtor.

Carla Pinza and Raul Julia realized from their personal experience in the industry at the time, that there were too few outlets for Hispanic talent in the English-speaking entertainment arena. So they reached out to television executives and theater impresarios Joseph Papp and Woodie King, Jr. As a result, numerous writers' scripts were developed and produced. Carla and Raul achieved their goal.

THE CHANGE OF ORGANIZATION'S NAME

The organization then known as The Latino Playwrights, was created with the intention of giving exposure to the talents of writers and performers of Hispanic backgrounds of all ages in the English-speaking entertainment industries. The enormous success of The Latino Playwrights created such a stir that soon after its creation, many non-Hispanic actors, writers and directors came knocking at the door. The organization then became multi-cultural, thus inspiring a name change to Luminous Visions, Inc.

LATINO POP CULTURAL EXPLOSION IN THE UNITED STATES

Carla Pinza and Raul Julia, along with the board of directors, recognizing that the United States is a land where cultures interact and flourish, and acknowledging the organization's history of inclusion, voted to change the name to Luminous Visions Inc. The company created programs that developed, marketed writers' scripts for theater, film and TV. They also packaged new talent for the entertainment industry. The company also maintained a database on worldwide Latino marketing facts and figures as it relates to the entertainment world. This information was shared with members of the industry. Due to these facts, figures and demographics of the Latino population in the United States. Today you have the JENNIFER LOPEZ, PENELOPE CRUZ, BENICO DEL TORO, ANTONIO BANDERAS, PAUL RODRIGUEZ, AMERICA FERRERA and a host of other Hispanic talent gracing your film and television screen. This is Luminous Vision's contribution to today's Latino pop cultural explosion in the United States entertainment industry. Today, The Latino Playwrights is a professional writers program under the umbrella of Luminous Visions Inc. The organization has inspired and developed talent of all ages and backgrounds.

Following the above achievements, the organization changed their goals and mission to benefit the future generation; the children. Particularly the children with special needs of all cultural backgrounds.

These achievements were recognized by the State of New York at a ceremony at the state capital. Carla Pinza and Luminous Visions, Inc. were acknowledged for their contribution to needy children, and the entertainment world. Today, Carla Pinza and Luminous Visions, Inc. are in the archives of the State of New York.
